Healing.

“The brain is wider than the sky.”-Emily Dickenson

Everyone has a story, and I am so proud of you for taking the first steps toward making a difference in your next chapter. It can be really difficult to reach out for help, and your decision to take care of yourself is a victory to be celebrated!

What happens Next?

In the first session, I like to take the time to understand what led you to seek therapy. I keep it open-ended, giving you the space to share whatever has been on your mind or weighing on you. In the end, I want to hear what you feel you need to focus on for your own growth and self-improvement.

Throughout our time together, I like to understand your hobbies and interests and will often assign homework in between sessions to help clients work towards their goals

What do I use to help you make the transformation happen?

When working with teens, I like to incorporate art and games to keep sessions engaging and dynamic.

Additionally, I incorporate pyschoeducation to help explain the underlying causes of the symptoms a client is experiencing. I often use diagrams and videos as a visual representation. This can sometimes make it easier for clients to understand why they are feelling or thinking a certain way.

How did I get here?

I’ve always known I wanted to work with people in some capacity. Early in my career, I worked as a research coordinator at VUMC, first with individuals with epilepsy, then with children experiencing anxiety disorders, and finally, with children struggling with suicidal ideation or suicide attempts at the Vanderbilt Psychiatric Hospital. I truly enjoyed my time there and the most rewarding part was connecting with the participants and their families. However, I soon realized I wanted to do more. While research plays a vital role, I wanted to help people beyond the confines of a study. Fast forward about six years and I decided to go back to graduate school, completing courses at Trevecca Nazarene University to pursue that calling.

My Education

  • Under the supervision of Vanessa Davis, LPC-MHSP, ACS, MT-BC, TN #3526 while completing requirements for full licensure in TN

  • Bachelor oof Arts in Psychology-Murray State University 2013

  • Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology-Middle Tennessee State University 2017

  • Additional course work at Trevecca Nazarene University-2024

What do I do outside of therapy?

I love spending time outdoors, whether it is hiking or scuba diving—ask me about my National Park Adventures! I’m also a creative person who enjoys sewings and crochet. Most of all, I cherish time with my husband and our two dogs.
